One Year
| I’m hijacking Lindy’s blog. One year ago today, our twins Maxwell and Samantha were born. That blows my mind. Just yesterday, yet forever ago. We can’t celebrate this milestone birthday without looking back on how far we’ve come. |

It’s a day we’ll never forget as our baby girl, died during child birth and was miraculously revived. Samantha’s outlook was grim as her doctor’s feared extreme brain damage; the kind that bounds people to a bed, never to walk or interact. Separated from us, she was rushed to DeVos Children’s Hospital to be placed on a experimental “cooling mat” for 72 hours to save her brain and organs from further damage. I’ll never forget seeing Samantha late that night and praying and pleading to God over her. It’s a place no parent ever wants to be. The flood of emotions is still indescribable—this is the first time in my life I literally fell to my knees. |
| It’s been a rough year for us with Samantha’s health, caring for twins (anyone with multiples will get this one), closure of our family business and Lindy’s cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatments. I use the analogy that we were running a marathon and when we were just about across the finish line, someone made us run another marathon, then another without rest. At times we got angry, cried, questioned, cursed, you name it, we did it. |
| No matter how dark the days can get, there’s something magical about two little giggly babies crawling towards you when you walk through the door; Samantha leading and Max right on her heels. I believe its God’s way of making everything bearable for us and reminding us of His true grace–a lifeline. |  |
| As we anticipate Lindy’s surgery on November 5, we ask for your continued prayers. We’re only half way through this marathon, but together we plan to finish it. |

What a year it has been!!! We will continue to uphold all of you in prayer as you anticipate Lindy’s surgery. I can’t believe the twins are 1!!! Happy Birthday to Max and Sam!! I was just thinking today about how tiny they were and what a miracle Sam is!! You have such an awesome testimony to give!

Samantha is an example of God hearing His people pleading for a miracle. God answers prayers and we know it.
I can’t wait to hug on the kids tomorrow night when we celebrate their birthdays.

Happy Birthday to Max and Sam!!! How time flies!!! I can not believe it has been a yr. and I also can not believe what you guys have been thru in a yr. You guys are always in our prayers and thoughts and I hope that next yr. seems like a breeze for you guys after this one.

The tight corners life brings can be so unexpected, it’s getting through them that makes life amazing. Happy Birthday is hardly enough, Happy Miracle and Yeah God for this day might be a better thing to say!!! I’ve been looking for a while for an update- hope everyone is well. I’m so glad for you guys there is something to celebrate!!! Love to all of you and hang in there- I really believe the finish line is close!!!

Happy (belated) Birthday to the twins! What an occasion to celebrate! I remember holding tiny Max for the first time a year ago today and praying my heart out for Samantha. They are both such a testament to the power of the God we serve. Miss you and love you all!

Dusty and Lindy, I’m so thankful for your Christian parents and the way they taught you to love the Lord and to trust in Him fully. God’s plan for your life is being unfolded daily. Continue to hold on to Him …He’ll carry you through!

Dusty and Lindy - what a story to tell…. We all wonder as we are going through things why, and how God will change this thing that is bad to be used for good. Your family is a continual testimony to what our GREAT GOD can do. Happy birthday to Max and Sam…. a little bit late. Oh Dusty, reading this makes me cry…especially since I became a mom myself. Precious Samantha…. Oh, how awesome and wonderful it is to look at pictures of them now! It certainly is a reminder that God can get you through yet another marathon as you anticipate Lindy’s healing!!! We continue to pray for you all every single day…I feel bad I haven’t written on the blog in a while, but please know you continue to be in our prayers ALWAYS! I have Lindy’s surgery of November 5 on my calendar, so we’ll put extra heat on the prayers that day! Well, sending big hugs to you all. Lots and lots of love, nels, julie & elsie
